As the @RwenzoriMarathn build-up gathers momentum, the Pearl of Africa continues to welcome visitors and runners from across the region and beyond.

Earlier today, Our guide @NaswifuG9204 welcomed Truphena Muthoni (@TruphenaMuthoni ) at the airport ahead of the Rwenzori Marathon (@RwenzoriMarathn )on 22nd August.

Her visit adds another inspiring dimension to this year’s marathon,bringing together sport,tourism, conservation and meaningful environmental advocacy.

Before race day, she will be in kabale for a movie shoot and she will have the opportunity to explore Uganda and experience some of the incredible destinations that make the Pearl of Africa a leading tourism destination.

This is exactly what the Rwenzori Marathon @RwenzoriMarathn represents but it’s a platform that goes beyond running to showcase Uganda’s landscapes,culture,hospitality,wildlife, and investment opportunities to the world.

As Mr. Amos Wekesa (@wekesa_amos ) rightly noted,runners and tourists have already started arriving,a clear indication that the excitement is no longer just building it is already here.

I had a conversation with the Kenya and Uganda team this morning, and I’m excited to share some great news.

Mutoni Truphena, a world record holder, will be arriving in Uganda today for the filming of a movie titled “The Land Remembers.”

The production will take place across Kigezi, Kasese, and Fort Portal, showcasing our rich culture, unique lifestyle, breathtaking landscapes, and incredible tourist attractions.

This is another opportunity to tell Uganda’s story to the world through film, culture, and tourism. I’m looking forward to seeing these beautiful destinations featured on the global stage.

Today, on World Environment Day, I stood between two great institutions Alliance Girls High School and Alliance High School and together we planted 1,000 trees.

As Kenya's Ambassador for the 15 Billion Trees Initiative and Chief Guest at both events, I carried a simple conviction; We do not own the earth.We belong to it!

For a moment, hundreds of young hands touched the soil. Seeds met the ground. Hope met responsibility.

My gratitude to the @Manu Chandaria Foundation Office of the First Lady, Global Peace Foundation, UNICAF, and all our partners for making this day possible.

May these trees grow.May these students grow.
May our love for this land grow even deeper!

🇰🇪🇧🇷On 8th May 2026, as part of her Environmental Awareness Tour in Brazil, Truphena Muthoni, HSC, broke the Guinness World Record for the most trees hugged in one hour. The previous record stood at 1,123 trees. Truphena surpassed it, hugging more than 1,200 trees in one hour at the Jardim Botânico Brasília.

The event was attended by H.E. Dr. Andrew Karanja, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya in Brazil; Amb. Peris Kariuki, Deputy Head of Mission; Mr. Allan Freire, President of Jardim Botânico Brasília; Kenyan nationals living in Brazil; and residents.

Both the Ambassador and the President of Jardim Botânico Brasília lauded and congratulated Truphena on her achievement, and acknowledged her previous milestones, a 48-hour and a 72-hour sustained single tree hug, as part of a remarkable ongoing journey of environmental advocacy.
