In drei Teilen.
Teil 1: Ein Jahr Merz
Friedrich Merz.
Infrastruktur kaputt.
Digitalisierung peinlich.
Bildung im Sinkflug.
Demographie schwierig.
Bundeswehr abgerüstet.
Verwaltung im Faxgeräte-Biotop.
Und was macht die Union?
Sie kämpft erst einmal gegen Habeck.
Nicht gegen die Krise.
Nicht gegen die Ursachen.
Nicht gegen die strukturellen Brüche.
Nein.
Gegen Habeck.
Part of Germany’s trade surplus decline was absorbed by China.
Germany’s net exports have stopped contributing to growth and are now a drag on GDP, while China’s net exports have surged.
The problem started before 2022. It is not only energy prices.
It is industrial displacement.
Germany needs strong public investment to restore growth, and Europe needs a harder policy towards China in specific strategic sectors.
A Korean family in Vancouver, Canada, is supporting Türkiye at the 2026 World Cup!
The mother, father, and children all speak fluent Turkish, and they have Türkiye flags and jerseys.
Their favorite player is Kenan Yıldız.
BROTHER NATIONS 🇹🇷🇰🇷
We love South Korea too ❤️!
Greece’s PM Mitsotakis:
I want a functioning and constructive relationship with Türkiye.
We're destined by our geography to live side by side. But I'm also not naive.
We have one big difference with Türkiye: the delimitation of maritime zones in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean. If Türkiye has other claims, we don't recognize them.
They are completely unfounded, and no Greek prime minister would ever be willing to enter any discussion or any negotiation regarding these claims.
I will strengthen my armed forces. They're probably in the best position they've ever been.
We need strong deterrence capability and qualitative superiority wherever we can.
The historic divide: map of all 4,259 ALDI stores in Germany and the Nord vs. Süd split since 1961.
The "Aldi Equator" splits Germany into two distinct retail territories: Aldi Nord in the north and Aldi Süd in the south. This historic boundary is the result of a 1961 dispute between brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht.
Today, the two legally and financially separate companies divide Germany's approximately 4,259 store locations.
After taking over their mother’s corner store in Essen in 1946, brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht expanded aggressively across West Germany.
By 1961, they disagreed on whether to sell cigarettes. Karl argued cigarettes would attract shoplifters, while Theo disagreed. To avoid conflict, they divided the country roughly in half along the Ruhr River (now known as the "Aldi-Äquator" or Aldi Equator).
Arctic Defense Chief Reveals Major Plans for Greenland
In his first extensive interview, the commander of the Arctic Command reveals new military plans for Greenland.
The flow of soldiers being deployed to Greenland will continue next year — and likely beyond.
A ground-based air defense system capable of shooting down enemy missiles will be deployed in Nuuk.
This year will also see the beginning of radar installations, harbor expansions, and the construction planning for a new and larger military headquarters.
That is the message from Major General Søren Andersen, head of Denmark’s military operations in Greenland.
“We have never been this busy before,”
he told TV 2 Denmark in his first major interview since the crisis with the United States peaked in January, when Donald Trump threatened to take control of Greenland by military force.
The plans include bringing some of the air defense systems to Greenland that Denmark decided to purchase in September for a total of 58 billion Danish kroner.
“Just as Copenhagen must be protected, we also need to train and protect Nuuk.”
Q: Will the army effectively become a permanent presence in Greenland?
“No political decision has been made on that. But we will continue in 2027 and probably for even longer. The reality is that if you are going to protect the Arctic and Greenland, you need to train in that environment.”
According to Andersen, new military equipment is also on the way.
“In July, we will install the first coastal radar, and later in the year another one further south, which will monitor maritime traffic.”
Plans are also underway this year to begin expanding the military section of the port in Nuuk and to start designing a new headquarters capable of accommodating significantly more personnel.
In addition, there will be extensive military exercises involving French forces, special operations units, and combat aircraft from several allied nations.
“This spring we also conducted an entirely new operation that we have not previously been able to talk about.”
“—For three weeks, Danish special operations personnel—described as Arctic specialists—crossed the Greenland Ice Sheet on six snowmobiles, traveling from the Sirius Patrol headquarters on the east coast to the U.S. base at Pituffik Space Base on the west coast.”
Q: Have you spotted any of the Russian or Chinese ships that Trump claims are operating along Greenland’s coast?
“No, there has been no change in the normal situation. We do not see either Russian or Chinese ships in and around Greenland,”
Andersen said.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar said that Budapest and Kyiv have reached an agreement on the educational, cultural, and political rights of the Hungarian minority living in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region.
Magyar also noted that Europe will monitor how these commitments are implemented, and that compliance with the agreement will be one of the factors considered in Ukraine’s EU accession process.
Fantastic feeling seeing the Nazis who marched through the streets on Tuesday, beating up non-white people and who tried to march on Glasgow central mosque now surrounded by at least 5000 anti-racists. Glasgow is anti-fascist. Fuck off nazi scum.
