It’s not personal. But Spurs shouldn’t even be part of the conversation. Man City and Chelsea are the two outliers here because they did quite literally buy their way to the top at a time where regulation didn’t prevent them from doing so. They’ve also clearly broken rules and their punishments have been minimal to non existent. Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal were already the establishment and had pre existing fan bases and revenue that allowed them to spend the most.
But it annoys me that Spurs are mentioned as beneficiaries of PSR, because we are not. We organically grew the club over the course of 2 decades. From being perennially mid table, to being a staple in the top 6 of the league - playing in Europe every season. Building a new stadium and training ground. Alongside a highly effective social media strategy, which included capitalising on the Asian market and growing the clubs global fan base.
All of this has now resulted in our turnover being up there with the very best, which means that we are finally able to pay higher wages and transfer fees without the risk of breaching PSR. It took 20 years to make it to this point. It didn’t happen overnight. And there is absolutely nothing stopping teams like Villa and Newcastle from going down the same road.
For years and years Spurs were criticised for not taking that extra step and spending that bit more to take us to the next level. We didn’t buy a player for nearly two years to enable our move to the new stadium. We missed out on transfer targets year after year because we weren’t prepared to push the boat out and risk PSR breaches.
And now we’re actually in a position to strengthen properly, no doubt motivated by the fear of near relegation - it’s because we’re part of ‘the big 6’ and it’s un fair on everyone else. Do me a favour. We’ve earned this. Argue with yourself
@GarySmithJnr@Sjopinion10 Seems villa and Newcastle fans are forgetting the years we’ve had to sell our best players, the 3 transfer windows we signed ZERO players in order to fund a new stadium and our 42% wage to income ratio! Now are able to fund a much needed rebuild after speculating to accumulate
@joelixton Coming from a club that payed nearly 60 million for Elanga and 55 million for Wissa, i would sit the fuck down if i were you and stop embarrassing yourself
All these butt hurt Villa and Newcastle fans absolutely gutted about us signing two freebies and a £52m defender that’ll be offset by the sale of Romero. Hardly a spending spree to get your knickers in a twist about! No wonder the whole prem wanted us relegated.
So many bitter Villa & Newcastle fans piping up about Spurs being able to sign players after finishing 17th and the whole PSR argument.
Clearly don’t understand what PSR is and how good Spurs have been creating revenue streams, to be able to spend.
Educate yourselves!!!
@hbrooks_coach I would rather see Wharton come through the door. Maybe it’s opportunistic using RDZ connection and Newcastle FFP situation to buy a player that definitely improves our starting xi. Maybe this is the best we can attract at this moment in time. Improves us and is a RDZ signing 👍🏻
WTF are these comms on about? Madueke is has his arms around Mendez and pulls on him. THAT is why it is “clumsy”. Then madueke goes down like a sack of shit to buy it
@footballconfid1 All players lined up and failed in January before RDZ became manager. They might be good players but this is not backing a manager. These are the same opportunistic “club buys” that have failed so many managers previously when the manager has wanted other targets.
I'm not gonna lie. If we were top 4 ish, competing I think them winning the league would have mattered. I don't know a single sane Spurs fan, given what we've been through this season that gives one flying fuck that they've won it. And I know it bothers them that we don't care..
Our support is the best out there and I truly believe that. We wouldn’t have avoided disaster without your spirit and fight in the stadium today. A season of recovering from big surgery for me but even in these last few games I feel pure pride and joy everytime I get the opportunity to wear this spurs shirt. Love you all Tottenham Hotspur. See you next season. Coysssss 🤍💪🏼
Can we all spare a moment for the 1000’s of fans of multiple clubs that were begging for their own teams to lose in the hope of sending Spurs down… I hope you’re all ok….
