When you look at GTA 6 from the perspective of a man who legitimately have increasingly fewer and fewer spaces left to just unwind, the pattern is hard to ignore

God of War now has a female lead. The Witcher now has a female lead. Fable 4... we all saw Fable 4. Ghost of Yōtei replaced Jin with Atsu. Lucia is being positioned as the driving half of GTA 6

GTA has always been dudes hanging out with their crazy bros committing grand theft. When the most male-coded franchises get remade one after another “for modern audiences,” you can’t really blame men for being pissed their spaces are being occupied—even if the game itself turns out fine

It’s suffocating. A lot of modern writing doesn’t just add women. It adds preachy girlboss characters who don’t need a man and spend the story competing to out-man him. Feminine traits get treated like a weakness and are often entirely removed. When every new female lead arrives with that same energy, people aren’t crazy for assuming this one will be more of the same

There was a lot I liked in the extended trailer. People are also right that Jason currently reads like a brick wall with the brains of a potato, and Lucia potentially reads like a masculine girlboss lead. I know people like both of them in real life. That doesn’t automatically make them good leading characters

Time will tell. You still can’t blame men who get harped at, ridiculed, and emasculated daily for being upset that the same dynamic is now showing up in what feels like virtually every game that used to be their escape

Sometimes men just want to be with their boys and do cool shit. Getting mad at them for that is the ridiculous take

The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This merger has real consequences for real people, and for the entire country. Scrutinizing the Ellisons, including Oracle’s business built on data, surveillance technology and government contracts, and the serious threat to editorial freedom and the loss of a livelihood for thousands of families, is fair and necessary. The $111 billion deal would hand one family control over CNN, HBO and Warner Bros., backed in part by foreign money whose influence on editorial decisions has never been fully explained to the public. 

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have called for serious national security review, and regulators still haven’t given the public a real answer. Until they do, the merger shouldn’t move forward. Now is the time to dive boldly into all these issues, not step back or concede.
