Just witnessed a beautiful moment at Margaret Harris Comprehensive School! Smiles with Emerson, a 501(c)(3) founded by a student’s family, donated two Convaid strollers to students in need. These will make everyday activities, like doctor visits & grocery trips, so much easier for their families.
Hurricane Milton has rapidly intensified to a dangerous Category 5 storm and is expected to make landfall on Florida's west coast this week.
As we continue to help people recover from Hurricane Helene, Red Cross disaster teams in Florida are now preparing communities for another storm.
Anyone in Milton’s possible path should prepare now and follow these tips to stay safe:
- Fill up your car's gas tank.
- Grab extra cash in case of power outages.
- Prepare your home if you decide to evacuate or shelter in place.
- Follow local weather reports and county officials for updates and evacuation orders.

“We pulled into the driveway, and my daughter began to cry. She said, ‘Mom, we don’t have a home anymore.’”
Amber and her family are now staying at a Red Cross shelter after Hurricane Helene devastated their home. This is a stark reality for hundreds of people across the Southeast.
Having survived three hurricanes in the past 15 months, Amber and her family were familiar with what to do — they went to a county evacuation shelter before the storm for their safety. After the storm passed and they were finally able to see the state of their home, one of the first calls Amber made was to the Red Cross to find a nearby shelter.
“As soon as I pulled up to the shelter, it made me feel good," Amber said. "I thought to myself, 'This is safe, and I’m going to be OK.'
“The volunteers have been really kind to me. They’ve given us everything we need, they’ve played with my kids, and they’ve treated us so well. I’m just really grateful to have a place like this right now when we need it.”
Alongside partners, we’ve provided nearly 18,000 overnight shelter stays for those evacuating and seeking refuge after Hurricane Helene's landfall. This number will likely grow as more people are able to return to areas and see the state of their homes.
This is a difficult time for everyone affected and we need your help to provide hope and comfort to those who need it most. If you’re able to give, please donate to help people affected by Helene. No matter the amount, your support can make a world of difference. https://t.co/5oMKO86SPf
To my T&F fam, because it is usually a struggle just finding where things are televised for the sport. For the USA Olympic trials, here is the TV schedule.
Don't worry! You're losing another customer. The NFL package kept me there, now, a local antenna and streaming services are all that I need. I wish you luck.
@HughRowden It's unfortunate that TEGNA, is going public with a private negotiation with the goal of extracting higher rates from you. We're still working hard to provide you with more options and value before the expiration date. More: https://t.co/BpDK2IlIKI ^RitchelleA
