@DaleVince When I was growing up, every room in the house had a 100W light-bulb helping to heat it up - except the dining and sitting rooms, where we had 150W. I still remember the whirring sound of the meter.
@BDSdragonflies They were like biblical locusts at the nature reserve west of Glastonbury earlier this month - several would fly up at every step. This (terrible) photo shows at least ten.
@BradyHaran@Objectivity_Vid@royalsociety Can't read "scientific stamp collecting" without recalling Ernest Rutherford's "All science is either physics or stamp collecting". Harsh but fair.
@aelfred_D It's precisely those first few lines that are the problem - those now-obscure references shout "There's nothing for you here" to 99% of the population.
@The_PBS I remember seeing a copy on eBay a few years ago that had been used as a child's colouring book - lots of pages covered in green and pink wax crayon scribbles!
@HugoGye@housmansoc I came across the Housman family monument in Bath when researching his sister Kate. The Society restored it in 1999. This is a recent picture. I asked the Council to tidy it up a few months ago...
@lewis_goodall The "asset/time rich" (aka educated, retired, like me) have far too much power. Not only do we vote, but we write letters, organise and complain. Sometimes for worthy causes, often for nimbyism.
