A lovely video from @SoSSwifts showing the beauty of these beautiful and remarkable swiftlets reared, rescued & cared for in E Suffolk. This crew are up in the skies now & will travel to the Congo & far beyond, not landing again until breeding in say 3 years.
#ŚląskaSwifts 2026 update: Still none the wiser as to how many breeding pairs, as there’s been so much swapping. But 9 out of 10 boxes are occupied - a record! Now the bangers are arriving to cause chaos - two of them got tangled up in a hanging basket this morning but escaped OK
The goal isn’t to be perfect, the goal is to increase your ability to be imperfect while still feeling like you’re enough

Pond update 🙂it’s done & has been fitted out to the finest penthouse standards. I’ll keep you updated as to how it evolves🙏build a pond as it’s estimated that we’ve lost more than 80% of our ponds @norfolkponds
Living near a county border is a disaster. If you live in Devon but are in hospital in Somerset we will struggle to get you out if you need any form of support…Works both ways, and applies across the UK. Also btw we won’t have any access to your GP notes. Could do better 😬
Mistle thrush in Greenwich from a few years back, the little green space where they lived now gone and replaced by flats. Many thanks @thebenoakley for all the support
Uncut grass keeps the ground at around 19.5°C
Grass cut to 10 cm raises the ground temperature to about 24.5°C
Bare ground in the middle of summer rises to over 40°C
It's important to raise awareness #NoMowMay
To all livestock farmers, particularly during this hot time, please remember to safeguard Barn Owls from drowning in your troughs! I put concrete blocks in mine! @BarnOwlTrust@SomersetLive
Happy Bank Holiday weekend!
Lovely weather, isn't it?🌞
Unless you're a nocturnal animal who has to sleep all through the hot day, and wake at night to find no water. No puddles.
No kind dishes.
Unseen.
Unthought of.
Just the tantalising smell of water from a pond you may drown in, or a drain you may get trapped in.
Or a stagnant, dirty old birdbath you may get fatal fluke from.
Hedgehogs need to drink a lot of water to stay healthy.
Please provide clean, fresh, safe, ground level water for our precious wildlife each evening.
Tap water is best.
Pop a dish or two out tonight.
Keep it clean.
Keep it full.
Keep it saving lives.❤️🩹
With a heatwave predicted over the next few days, the need for providing fresh water is even more critical for our precious wildlife. Please help if you can, providing fresh water in clean shallow heavy dishes will help to save so many lives. Thank you 🙏 #hedgehog#wildlife

There’s nothing quite like the sound of a narrowboat passing by through wonderful nature. Jon @jonpaulbostock on ano 26 mile walk mapping the regions canals. This from Fazeley Junction to Coventry. Canals are simply wonderful for what they offer up.
Scotland is famous for its hills and scenery, but the spectacle of the Waverley steaming up the Clyde surely has to rank as one of our country’s greatest sights.
