The ban on evictions ends a week today, with over 200,000 people at risk of homelessness. But by working together we can help each other 👊
Join our online welcome meeting this Thursday (7pm) to find out how we can organise in Hull.

This climate map paints a stark picture of the future if we don't drive down carbon emissions - heat and humidity in southeast England. Storm damage, landslides, coastal erosion, and floods in the north of England, Wales, and the north of Ireland. https://t.co/Mehopwhano
A million people in the UK are in rent debt due to Covid.
Landlord groups like @NRLAssociation say government should fund grants, loans and subsidies through next week’s budget.
Would be great for landlords but won't protect renters from eviction.

Support @RobertJenrick is giving landlords:
💰Mortgage holidays extended
💰Tenants told rent due in full
💰Viewings continue
💰Courts still open for evictions
For renters:
🧐 Non-binding guidance to bailiffs to pause some evictions & basically nothing else

After announcing another mortgage holiday for homeowners, it's no surprise that the government has failed to implement an eviction ban to protect renters who can't make rent.
Time to join your local tenants union.
If there's to be another lockdown then a ban on evictions is a bare minimum response to help renters. Either way, we're be ready to support those in Hull threatened with eviction.
We are already helping people in Hull to stand up to their landlords. Sometimes it's as simple as knowing your rights when faced with harassment, as with one renter last week.
Get in touch and get involved as we continue to build power for renters in the city ✊
Govt plans to deport foreign rough sleepers who dont accept accommodation https://t.co/z3ktSXgUYu Wont be council accommodation of course & this will allow criminals to further monetise misery with govt support "Take the shed or we'll deport you"
I'm sure other people have covered this. But there were 269,000 more private renters whose housing benefit didn't covere their full rent in 2019 than there were in 2009. One of the reasons we now have a rent arrears crisis...
We've now got over 800 sign ups for the rent strike ✊
This has the potential to be one of the biggest university rent strikes in recent history so join here at https://t.co/YWQXytgw8d
The student halls safety crisis is such a clear example of why connecting important things like education and housing to asset speculation is a madness.
Tried to go to uni: got locked into an unaffordable, unsafe rental contract.
