Liberals use majority to block probe of $1.45B bailout of condo developers/speculators -
Back to Lily Tomlin - "No matter how cynical you become, it's never enough to keep up"
Special nod to the 5 floor crossing MPs who made this possible.
Keith is correct. Don’t be fooled by this pipeline talk. Canada is “nationalizing” the sector. The government plans, controls, and funds with the people’s money. The projects are unlikely to be built in the foreseeable future. They just want to look like they’re doing something.
Liberals shut down debate over proposed probe into Carney condo 'bailout'.
An 'emergency' meeting was called by the Conservatives on Tuesday to launch an ethics probe into the program, which would see 2,200 unsold condo units in B.C. converted into affordable housing https://t.co/HAGoL0cvi7
Oh, give me a break. The legacy media just can't stand losing their monopoly on the narrative, can they?
Every single time a platform actually protects free speech instead of pushing corporate or government-approved talking points, mainstream outlets panic. They immediately label it "fomenting extremism" because they don't know how to handle a public square they can't control.
Look at that headline; it’s classic, textbook fear-mongering. Instead of addressing why people are actually losing trust in institutions and getting frustrated, they blame the guy giving everyone a voice.
Free speech isn't the threat here; the constant push to muzzle it is. People are smart enough to think for themselves, even if the legacy media hates to admit it.
Tiff going to take marching orders from Carney and let the CAD get wrecked in order to keep rates low to support not just massive federal deficit spending but also low mortgage rates to prop up real estate market. Main Street meanwhile to get thrown under the bus with higher import costs on falling CAD.
Maybe it's time for Alberta to take tolls on goods coming across the province from BC by rail.
If they don't like it, maybe we could draft an MOU to consider renegotiating down the road.
Ok, I said I would wait 48 to comment on this pipeline Alberta announced yesterday.
Am I correct in saying that the taxpayer is assuming all the financial risk and the two private companies are providing expertise?
The last time the government built a pipeline the cost overrun was 530%.
How about we deregulate and create an environment where private money can build it?
@RichardDias_CFA They need to teach where the standard of living comes from in High school. Most people have no idea but I guess that would be a threat to the institutions and the political class if the average person had a clue where tax dollars come from...
Canada annouced to the world that we can't even build projects in national interest, which should be massively profitable and the private sector would be tripping over themselves to buy in anywhere else in the world, without government having to use taxpayer $ to try and save it and create confidence because the red tape and uncertainty is so bad.
Only Canada would celebrate this instead of working day and night removing all these hurdles and uncertainties.
🤦🏼♂️
Politicians shouldn't even be announcing this pipeline project. Private industries should be.
Rewarding bad behavior. This will incentivize roadblocks to future projects. I think it's embarrassing to have to jump through these hoops to build national infrastructure projects that benefit the country and pay for social programs. The tanker ban is for Alberta bitumen only. All other tankers are free to roam as they please. Ridiculous and ineffective
