Congratulations to my dear friend @CyrilRamaphosa and his team for this G20 Summit, the first ever on the African continent. Hand in hand as we look ahead to the French G7 Presidency!
The cultural connect between India and South Africa is truly heartwarming and timeless.
In Johannesburg, my young friends sang the Ganapati Prarthana, Shanti Mantra and other divine prayers with great devotion. Such moments reaffirm the enduring bonds between our people.
Productive meeting today with Minister @Kgosientsho_R to reaffirm @WorldBank Group’s support for mobilizing private investment in 🇿🇦South Africa's transmission sector & to engage on the Minister’s strategy + vision for the country’s energy future.

@JustXavierB@Kgosientsho_R@DOEE_ZA@SamGrahamMare@Eskom_SA Are you gonna be oblivious or rather ignorant about the fact that this tender was concluded way before Minister Ramokgopa’s arrival, all he did was to announce what the panel had decided on, perhaps it’s a question you should take to his predecessor ? @JustXavierB
In his last sermon, Pope Francis, speaking about the resurrection of Christ yesterday, said:
“May the risen Christ, our hope, grant peace and consolation to the African peoples who are victims of violence and conflict, especially in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in Sudan and South Sudan. May he sustain those suffering from the tensions in the Sahel, the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region, as well as those Christians who in many places are not able freely to profess their faith. There can be no peace without freedom of religion, freedom of thought, freedom of expression and respect for the views of others.”
This important message and prayer, is among the many things the Pope said about our world. From Gaza and the Ukraine. He appealed to world leaders to fight poverty, hunger and lead development instead of yielding to the logic of fear that wads to isolation, calling these “weapons of peace”: “help the needy, to fight hunger and to encourage initiatives that promote development”.
This was a progressive Pope and may his soul rest in perfect peace.
Three young cyclists from a BMX club in Limpopo have just finished their epic journey to Cape Town. They've been capturing hearts with their cross-country ride from Burgersfort to the Mother City. Gauta Mahlakoane, Karabo Mokoo and Maxwell Ndou are on a mission to raise funds and awareness for their community bike club, which offers young people an alternative to crime and drugs. #Newzroom405
