In this Partners in Action feature, we are excited to highlight The Bond Between, a Minnesota rescue that operates a full-service vet clinic, low-cost wellness clinics and a range of community service programs! π
Among their innovative approaches: βkitten surrenderβ events, which are designed to keep kittens and pregnant cats out of shelters while tackling local cat overpopulation.
The program serves community members who have been caring for stray litters or who find themselves with an unwanted litter or pregnant cat. π± Kittens coming in without their mother must be old enough to eat solid food independently and socialized enough to be handled safely.
During a typical event, they admit between 100 and 150 kittens and successfully place almost all of them into foster homes on the same day! π
To break the breeding cycle, The Bond Between offers free spay/neuter for the mom and dad cats. π Learn more about their incredible work at: https://t.co/cxsBQekSQ3

In this Partners in Action piece, we're highlighting the incredible work of the Animal Rescue League of Iowa! π
After devastating flooding displaced several families in Des Moines earlier this summer, the @ARLIowa stepped in to keep pets and people together.
Their Animal Welfare & Response Team worked alongside emergency responders to rescue animals from flooded buildings, provide temporary emergency housing for pets whose families had nowhere to take them, and distribute essential pet supplies to those able to remain with their animals - all part of the organization's Crisis Care program.
In the days following the flooding, the team cared for 20 displaced cats, dogs and reptiles while their families focused on recovery. Several joyful reunions have happened since the flooding, with more expected as families get back on their feet. This program helps ensure that no family has to choose between their own safety and the safety of their beloved pets during times of crisis. Breed-based policies aren't founded on science or credible data, but on myths and misinformation surrounding different breeds. Although on the decline across the country, these policies have real impacts on dogs, families and animal shelters.
