Yesterday was World Refugee Day, and we had an incredible day hearing stories from heroes, refugees, supporters, and activists. Over the next few days, we will be posting about some of the incredible speeches we heard in the British Parliament. https://t.co/LPjXirOlkR
As the #ProtectingRefugees manifesto rightly calls for—it’s time to update the definition of #refugee—to include people displaced by climate change or environmental disaster. Take a look at @HumanitariansT’s proposals—and back their manifesto at @change. https://t.co/m7E8WIMctn

To learn more about Vito and his story, check out Stories of a Generation on Netflix. We are so grateful that Vito and Carlo joined us yesterday, and we are humbled by their heroism and sacrifice. Vito’s story is a reminder that one person can make a massive change. 4/4
Coming from the Italian town of Lampedusa, we were honoured to welcome Vito and Carlo to share their story in Parliament. Vito is a keen boater, and while out on the water one night in 2013, he and his friends awoke to hear the calls of desperate people - drowning refugees. 1/4
Vito is calling for improved emergency response, safe travel routes, and support for those who have been traumatised by their journey. Vito and Carlo presented our Founder, Lord Roberts, with a gift - a cross made from washed-up wooden pieces of the destroyed refugee boat. ¾
So far, we have received no response. Doesn't the UK deserve sensible, humane asylum policy? We need our leaders to step up and make meaningful change. 2/2 https://t.co/LPjXirOTap
