Start of a new academic adventure today, not that learning ever stops with inquisitive children.
Our 9th year as a home ed family. All key stages covered this year. Would I change this life course...?
Absolutely not.

Enjoying the peace, before the day begins... The birds were beautiful to watch, the light was hope.
We'll be doing our "Sunday reset". The week ahead planned, & all rooms get a 10 minute tidy. It works for us.
I parent like it's the 90s, no excuses & only accountability.
Gratitude is everything. I get the absolute pleasure, good luck, and fortune, to live and breathe here. It still blows my mind to know it's been part of my blood for hundreds of years.

Well the "ber" months have started with a bang! A mother deer & her bubba, casually walking up the path ahead of us this morn. I was so in the moment, I didn't get a photo. In many ways just watching them was worth a million photos, because of the gasping, excited feeling I had.
Another day & more excitement, finding some fungi. My little world is a small, sacred place I share with a handful of people, but it's a good life I'm grateful for.
We have thick mizzle drizzle, so certain plans are on hiatus. Adapt & thrive is the order of the day.

Friday's look... I feel like one of those sailor matey bubble baths in my hat. Damp start, but fabulous fungi. Same place, something new to marvel at. It never gets boring.

When I was little, I had a wax cotton coat, hated the thing, had a tantrum when I wore it. Now a wax cotton is adult goals.
Sporting my very lovely wax cotton, bought circa 2010 & still like new. The pockets are perfect for a woodland walk. More fungi, more excitement.

The little things... Simple routine, watching the birds, a little foraging, & letting the light bathe you.
In a world of false light & tech, which I find really unsettling, the kids have been given cereal packets, felt tips, scissors, & imagination for bank holiday Monday.
Ye olde faithful pack-a-mac, didn't let me down this morning. The woods was tranquil, I could mentally organise my thoughts as we go into a new week.
We are now in the last week of holiday, so more structure and routine introduced again, which I'm looking forward to.

First run in a while, 2 strapped knees for support, (previous running/ rowing injury.) Working with current & towards future ambition, not a P.B. I run for myself, & no one else.
Up hill, down dale, 1066ft-463ft range above sea level.
235 (IYKYK) to remind me to never give up!
Same place, different vibe. I love even the dark, dimpsy, soaking starts to the day, because it's a privilege to walk in every weather and season.
Stopped off for milk, post-walk, and the girl on the tills asked if I walked the dogs every day, even when it rained...

Massive change in the weather, the woodland colours vivid. Nature has a great way of reminding you that time is a phase, good, bad, & indifferent.
Time is reminding me, we're about to enter a new phase next month with home ed, & I should enjoy the last days of holiday.

The gorse was like floral sunshine this morning, and the birds were like something out of a fairytale. It was quite a submersive experience. I didn't see a soul, a perfect way to start the day, my thoughts and motivation.

Lots of colour this morning, the day has continued to be vibrant. High excitement at the Chateau, paper aeroplanes being made & flown. Proper, old-fashioned fun.
A rare, but full nest for dinner, plus home-made ice cream, always makes for an interesting jostle over the table.
The week is planned to within an inch of my life, no short cuts, just the hard grind. Meals, snacks, daily itinerary, chores, workouts...
All the Ps. Some times a strict week of accountability is all that's needed.
Started the day in my usual way. And off we go.
T'was parky this morning, ye olde faithful jumper is out. Was stunning out, birds calling, & the sun's kiss. "Sunday reset" getting ready for the week ahead. Starting to introduce more routine, as we head back to home ed, the kids have been feral for 6 weeks.

Had that epiphany moment tonight... I walk miles daily (the woods is an extension of my persona), go to the gym, & run, mainly to combat the interesting/ questionable attitude I inherted from both sides of the family. (We won't mention a court marshall for grandfather.)
There is something very special about basking in early morning light, I like the almost primative way to start the day. The heather was stunning, I felt like I was bathing in it's strength & resilience ahead of my day.
Today is full-throttle & I can't wait.

I have new fitness ambitions. Now it's becoming reality, it's taken determination, lots of coordination, & hard work. I can now train towards making those longer-term goals become achievements.
I'm in an era of being unapologetically myself, locking in on my own ambitions.
Amazing start to the day, blackberry picking, birds calling, my first spot of Chicken of the Woods, this season.
Reality bites... Home, screaming kids, poorly kids, and the most dysfunctional toddler we've ever had, but I wouldn't change any of it!
It's an odd but good balance.
