Overtaxed, our money being wasted while our basic infrastructure crumbles. Our energy security is appalling and our roads are riddled with potholes. One word: shambles.

@lewis_goodall He’s openly saying he wants to tax and borrow more. If that doesn’t concern you then I can’t help you. What do you think is going to happen? The chances are there will be lower growth, then even higher taxes later, higher inflation and probably higher unemployment.

@AllisonPearson @gxeki Yep. We need a smaller, less intrusive state. Problem is we haven’t had a right wing govt able to deliver what’s needed for at least a generation. The Tories since Thatcher have completely lost their way.

@MelJStride Why is it always “how can we tax more?” Why isn’t it “how can we stop wasting so much so we can tax less?” I suggest you put a cap on the size of the state - about 25%-30% of the economy would be plenty large enough if run properly.

@annaturley Putting VAT on private school fees does not achieve your objective. It results in these institutions closing, more pupils in the state sector, less funding per pupil and thus an increased burden on tax payers. It’s in no one’s interest. That you can’t see that is worrying.
