A podcast on UTIs but also when a UTI isn’t a UTI or when a UTI is way worse than a standard UTI and did we mention it’s about UTIs? https://t.co/3p6fbVdfQk

I’m fortunate to be spending the weekend with a very experienced human rights lawyer who outlined how vaccine requirements in schools and other institutions do not infringe on human rights but actually enable those who are vulnerable to participate fully/be included.
Junior doctors don’t need 1 day a year to wear coloured socks...
They need;
Humane work hours and humanly achievable workload.
A supportive non-hostile work environment.
Not to be in situations completely beyond their scope of practice.
Be allowed to eat lunch.
Me: Hey, remember that weird protein from three weeks ago?
My immune system: Yeah, I shut that business down real quick.
Me: Look, the ribosomes are making it again.

So many unfilled Med Reg shifts/rota gaps coming up I am seriously considering hiring an actor and lying to them that the gig is the part of a doctor in a tv show, giving them the bleeps and doing a runner

Female SHO: my consultant told me that women are inferior to men and shouldn’t be doctors. Then he forced me to make him a sandwich while he threw hammers at me.
Twitter: I think you’re reading a bit too much into this maybe he just wanted to show you where the ward kitchen was?
Remembering the 4 Hs and 4 Ts in a cardiac arrest can be tricky (brain freeze).
My tried & tested trick for effortlessly remembering the 4 Ts:
THROw TEN TOXIC TAMPONs
- Thromboembolism
- Tension pneumothorax
- Toxic drugs
- Tamponade
Any tips for simple recall of the 4 Hs?
“Everyone wanted change, no one wanted to be the first to speak up and since dwelling on such matters simply fuelled disillusionment, my colleagues and I simply carried on until we reached our goal and found autonomy.” @docranjana

In my 3 years of residency, our program (15 residents) had 2 people diagnosed with cancer, 2 sudden family deaths, and a divorce. Shit starts happening in your late 20s, early 30s. Ask PDs for an example of how the program helped a resident in crisis.
Some consultants seem to always make the emergency dept seem under control and chill, no matter how busy it is. A few weeks ago I asked one of them HOW ON EARTH they do this and it’s some of the best advice I’ve ever had. 👇 #emergencymedicine#medtwitter
