I have been in America as a busy doctor for close to three years. Except I’m actively seeing a patient at the time, not once have I ever been denied the blessings of going for Jumah prayer.

One of the first things I prayed for was being able to say my prayers at the right time five times daily. I have never missed my prayers since as long as I can remember being a Muslim.
I have been able to do it at the right time in up to 90% of cases. I was fortunate to be born Muslim, and I CHOOSE to remain Muslim.

The first day I was on the medical floors during my first year, I randomly met a kind second year that told me all the places where I could pray in the hospital WITHOUT asking. Just because he noted from my dressing that I’m a Muslim. My answered prayer even without asking.

I met an admin staff that has been praying more just because of me. The first rule of Islam my dad taught me - “When people see you or come in contact with you, let them see the beauty of Islam. Read the books yourself Ajoke, and learn about your religion by yourself.”

There is religious intolerance in the world. But I promise you, there’s religious tolerance too. Same way Twitter is toxic for some, and it has been a blessing for others as it has been for me.

At the end of the day, you see what your eyes want to see, or what your heart wants to let in.

Of course it will be tantamount to stupidity if you leave your active patient and go to the mosque for 30 minutes. That’s just common sense. But all Muslims know that the prayer itself can be done in 5 to 10 minutes.
