And like any other fish,
Mum would buy one, wash it, mix ingredients, fry it, cook it, and then place it on the table. That’s not how we do it today…
Gen Zs will buy it, wash it, marinate it, mix ingredients and spices, decorate it, place it on the table, TAKE A SNAP...

But if the same people don’t work, we tag in the world, craft out savage phrases on placards, even with asthma, run in the cold to occupy parliament… literally taking matters on our own hand until we get what we want! 8-4-4 will never be complete without the Z on it.

4. Resilience – We don’t Stop until we get what we Want
We were famous dancers in the rain while growing up. We played out in the mad so madly so, despite receiving beatings on the same the previous day. We are the same people who voted in Sakaja because of looks...

But test our mastery of language and sense. Touch the prices of pads, phones, beauty products, snacks… and watch us tag you, troll you, do a hashtag for you, until we pin you down!

None was going to pay for the foundation and lip gloss we do today. None was going to even follow us on TikTok! How we spend time ‘don’t caring’, is on X, IG and TikTok, in the gym, in the bars, at home jobless, in our ka-hustles, some in the offices…

3. Navigators – We may seem not to Care but try Touching what Makes us Happy
Did you know that most of us didn’t vote? This is why… none of the candidates was going to buy us bundles, none was going to pay for our trip for a vacation...

No wonder these Genz burnt schools, chased principals, ‘stole’ exams… you know why, because that’s the aisle we were made to walk and that’s the bride we married today!

Little did we know that this was becoming an eye-opener today. Then Francis Imbuga’s major puts all of them together with his quote, “When the madness of an entire nation disturbs a solitary mind, it is not enough to say that the man is mad.”

2. Coloration and Patterns – We were Taught to take Matters on our Own Hands
Tell me any set book you know we read that taught us to call for help. Loudly NONE! From Mstahiki Meya, Betrayal in the City, Damu Nyeusi, Kigogo, Tumbo Lisiloshiba, etc.

I felt really bad for him, but I don’t really think my fellow Gen Zs felt the same while on ground. For them it was a game like any other. You see we grew up singing songs like Blueband by-by zero, Speedo my pen, Utafanya harusi wapi, Mary Analia, By show I love you baby etc.
