@1of1light @animeposuto It’s never explicitly stated. But most assume she’s trans and has been since very young. Possibly due to Nanika being present in her body. But the trans assumption begs more questions, as Killua has mentioned that her bathing staff are all female and she has a female name. So 🤷‍♂️

I saw someone a while ago say that the pronouns people besides Killua use for her aren’t male but are actually the closest pronouns to calling someone an object that you can get in Japanese, and it just happens to translate as masculine.

@lastborn_1j Real Reason? Kishimoto screwed up the power scaling constantly. He never actually expected for Naruto to be popular enough to need a sequel (Naruto Shippuden). So he made all the more powerful characters much weaker in the original anime, then had to work around himself later on.
