Police forces in England and Wales say courier fraud is on the rise and costing people more than £20 million a year.

'Courier Fraud' is when criminals impersonating trusted figures deceive victims into handing over money or valuables.

Earlier this month, officers from Lead Force Operation Room (LFOR) arrested a suspected smishing fraudster as he landed at Heathrow after a long-haul flight.

He was taken to a police station for interview and bailed.

Courier fraud is when criminals pretend to be from your bank and/or the police to try and steal money from your account.

A suspected phone snatcher has been caught by officers in the City.

Officers found a phone wrapped in tin foil and located the owner via the medical ID information stored on the device.

The 17-year-old suspect is in police custody.
