A database = structured collection of data, stored to be efficient, retrievable, shareable, and analyzable.

SQL has 3 parts: DDL (structure), DML (querying), DCL (access).

Every SQL statement = verb + subject + condition:

Controlling what comes back from a query:

DISTINCT - returns only unique values from a column
LIMIT - caps how many rows are returned
OFFSET - skips a number of rows first (optional)
