Sad if true, but not surprising in the least. I don't think people really understand the scale of gambling and how it drives investment in the scene, and unless you understand the scale, you cannot limit the corruption. Taiwan's government pays Sportsradar for offical LoL lottery stats and the annual gambling amount on LoL is between 35-60mil USD, a single Worlds match can be 700k. That's a single, relatively small market. Globally its likely over 4 billion USD just on League.
Trace the money and you will find the players who invest in the scene. The gambling calculus has always been there and is behind a lot of seemingly free services and development provided. We're wayyyyyy beyond the phase of "clean" esports, and I think there needs to be better integration of revenue back into the scene as well admission to our situation to prevent its damaging influence.

With 12 assists in tonight's victory, Nikola Jokić has now officially averaged a triple-double on the season. He joins Russell Westbrook as the only players in NBA HISTORY to average a triple-double in back-to-back seasons!
Imagine averaging 27.9 PPG, 12.9 RPG, and 10.8 APG on 67.4% TS — and finishing 4th in the MVP race.
Jokić is on pace to become the first player in NBA HISTORY to lead the league in rebounds AND assists.
He’s actually averaging more PTS, REB, and AST than he did in his last MVP season.
This is one of the craziest MVP races in history.
