A major accident has occurred in the area of the 130 mile marker of IH45 on the southbound side. This came as DPS was working an earlier accident. Please be careful of heavy emergency personnel activity in the area. All of SB lanes are currently shut down.
The new school zone in the 7100 block of SH-75S, where the new Huntsville Classical Academy was recently built, is now active. Please be cautious and attentive to your speed during effective hours.

Today marks a historic and very special day for emergency services in Huntsville and Walker County. HFD CPT Darren Parker was sworn in this afternoon as the city's first TCOLE certified Fire Marshall. His commission will be carried by Huntsville Police Dept.
@josh_m_valentin Video surveillance footage from HEB showed the vehicle leave the side of the roadway and drove up the guy wire. It then became entangled and suspended in power lines.
UPDATE: (2:53 PM) Huntsvillle FD units are clearing the scene which has been deemed safe. HPD School Resource Officers and HISD Maintenance are remaining on scene. There are no planned changes for after-school pick ups.
Increased activity at Sam Houston Elem. for a strong smell of smoke in one of the academic hallways. Emergency Service Personnel are on scene, and all children have been moved to a safe location. All children are safe. We will update this post as we get more information.
A single vehicle accident at the 100 mile marker of IH45 SB has one lane of traffic blocked. Expect delays, and please be careful of Emergency personnel working in the area.
An accident involving a vehicle and a power pole in the area of HEB on 11th St. has caused power outages around town and heavy traffic in the area. Please treat any malfunctioning traffic lights like a 4 way stop. Power may be out for about an hour.
