Less than a week later, Gakpo is cleaned out in the penalty area after playing a pass - absolutely nothing. Way more contact than Alisson on Williams.

Gakpo fouled after the ball’s gone and the referee ignores it. Took them one week to change the rule after that penalty for Forest.

Now look at Gakpo. He releases the pass, though it gets intercepted, but the defender comes across and takes him out. The attacking move is already gone. Then there’s contact.

So where’s the penalty?

Whether Gakpo’s pass was intercepted doesn’t matter. Williams had already wasted his chance last week as well. If contact after the attacking action was enough to punish Alisson, why isn’t it enough here?

That’s what drives players and managers mad. I don’t even need them to agree with me anymore. Just agree with themselves.

Last week I said Williams had already completed what he wanted to do and people told me I was wrong.

Okay. Then give Liverpool the penalty today.

Im pretty OK with VAR largely, but today's Liverpool penalty just isn't one. It never is. Never reward a player for taking a bad shot....especially if you arent going to reward a player for getting kicked in the chest..in the box.
