Ya Allah, when the time comes for us to depart this world, may YOU grant us friends, relatives, and loved ones who will give sadaqah in our name and continue to pray for us. Not just those who will only pray for us for a day, a week, or on the anniversary of our death, but those

Shekau’s Son Reportedly Emerges in Boko Haram Ranks, Raising Concerns Over Next Generation of Insurgency
By Zagazola Makama
Ibn Mohammed bin Shakau, the biological son of the late Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, is said to have emerged within the ranks of Boko Haram insurgent group, raising fresh concerns over the possible continuation of the ideology and networks associated with his father.
Ibn Mohammed is reportedly taking steps into the militant organisation, following the path of his father, who was one of the most notorious figures in Nigeria’s insurgency in the North-East.
Abubakar Shekau became the leader of Boko Haram after the death of the group’s founder, Mohammed Yusuf, and presided over some of the most violent periods of the insurgency.
Under his leadership, Boko Haram carried out attacks against communities, security personnel, government institutions and other civilian targets across the North-East and neighbouring countries.
Shekau was also known for his uncompromising leadership style and his use of propaganda videos to threaten governments and announce attacks.
His death in 2021 following a confrontation with fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) significantly altered the dynamics of the insurgency in the Lake Chad region.

If only they had this much energy for collective issues.

Interesting times. I like when scholars are confronted with the reality of politics, away from their Ivory tower judgement —as Ibn Khaldun would agree.
A lot is going to change for Mallam Pantami, in practice as well as in fatwa. And those who hold on to a certain image of his, are in for a disappointment. Mallam is now into the dirt, what will become of him remains to be seen.

There’s nothing left unsaid. This week alone, we’ve seen videos from across the country that expose the dysfunctionality of Nigeria as a whole. I don’t believe the almajirai seen here, or those at Pellas’ wedding, are products of any state Government’s mass wedding programme or the result of a gateman having four wives. These are symptoms of deeper, long standing systemic failures that cut across the country.
