Literally. We don't want you to fix shit, we can fix ourselves it's a matter of feeling like we're wanted around. We want people to hear AND listen and not just hear and ignore.
Have we collectively lost faith in the basic concept of care? No, a friend cannot single-handedly fix suicidal ideation. But having ppl who can simply show up to simply show they care really DOES go a long way
Pls don’t believe the deadly ideology that friends have no role
CW suicide
As someone who tried 2x, I need ppl to know, if you “can only offer an ear to listen and a comforting presence,” then hi chance you’re doing exactly what’s needed
Thinking basic emotional support belongs exclusively in therapy is toxic ideology of hyper-individualism
Them: Why are autistic people depressed so often?
Autistic Person: Imagine spending your whole life being misunderstood… and then being told *you’re* the communication problem.
Them: That sounds lonely.
Autistic Person: It is.
The solution to suicide is giving peoples hope that their lives won't suck.
Not clapping their hands and believing. Therapy culture has a fatal flaw: it treats everything is a "mindset" issue. If your hands are being cut off, you just have to find a happy perspective about it
With the heavy topic of suicide on my dash, the last thing I'll mention is that suicide is very nuanced and complex . Mental illness is inherently irrational. Many normal people can't conceptualize what people are going through or why they make multiple attempts.
I don't think people asking for support, are asking their family and friends to be their therapists. Help from loved ones can come as having compassion, advocacy and assisting in getting the help they need.
my trauma didn’t make me strong, it turned me into someone who’s always overthinking, expecting the worst, and struggling to feel safe even when nothing is wrong. it made me question people’s intentions, overanalyze every little change, and feel guilty whenever i try to relax. sometimes i’m so used to surviving that i don’t know how to simply exist without worrying about what might go wrong next. i don’t want to keep being strong. i just want to feel safe, peaceful, and okay.
Autistic people are constantly expected to learn social rules that nobody explains, decode hints nobody says out loud, and mask traits that make others uncomfortable. then when we ask for clarity instead of guessing, suddenly WE’RE the difficult ones.
"You're friends are not your therapists" there's no qualifications needed to be a crying shoulder, and to write or call. You can extend an invitation to hang out, or even help them make an appointment.
If you have depression and you’re vocal about it (for suicide prevention, decreasing stigma etc), you’re seen as a difficult person who has soooo many troubles and problems and you are made to feel like a burden to those around you. So no, just talking doesn’t work
You are not "imagining" CPTSD-- either the big, well-known symptoms like flashbacks & nightmares; or the more subtle, lesser known symptoms, like hating your reflection, getting triggered by your name, or feeling inexplicably self-harmful or suicidal when you hear "I love you."
The painfully real neurodivergent experience of saying “I can’t keep doing this” and hearing “but you’re doing soo well.”
Yes. You’re watching the performance. I’m living the recovery.

Whenever we lose a person to suicide everyone say things like “He should have spoken up” but whenever people open up about their mental health issues they are called desperate or attention seekers
