🇵🇰🔥💀The Israeli Air Force had the F-15s and F-16s that had ravaged Iraq, but they had to cover nearly 2,000 miles to reach🇵🇰 Kahota. Israel had a limited capacity to provide aerial fuel for such a long flight.

That's why Israel made a secret deal with India: Mossad would provide India with satellite images of 🇵🇰Kahota and technical information, and in return India would provide refueling and technical support to Israeli planes at its Jamnagar air base. It was a deadly alliance aimed at preventing🇵🇰 Pakistan from becoming a nuclear power forever.

🇵🇰Pakistan became aware of the threat when ISI informants reported secret meetings between top officials of India and Israel. In an immediate reaction, the🇵🇰 Pakistan Air Force launched 'Operation Sentinel'. French-made Crotal missile systems and anti-aircraft guns were installed on the hills of Kahota in such a way that no aircraft could avoid radar by flying low.

The best pilots of the 🇵🇰Pakistan Air Force were ordered to be ready at all times at the 'Combat Employment School' in Sargodha. Their planes would be fueled and ready to take off at just three minutes' notice.

Pakistan🇵🇰 did not take the path of formal protest, but adopted an unconventional strategy. The then President General Zia-ul-Haq sent a clear message to Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi through a foreign diplomat:

"We know what is happening in Jamnagar. Remember, if Kahota is attacked, our first target will be India's Tombe nuclear reactor. Our destruction will be rewarded by your destruction."

The Tombe reactor was located near Mumbai, and if it were destroyed, half of India, including Mumbai, would be exposed to radiation for decades. The fear of this 'Mutual Assured Destruction' forced India to retreat.

The security of Kahota was so tight that even locals were not allowed to enter without a special card. After the arrest of two French spies, it was found that they were using special smart cameras to mark the exact center points of Kahoota by laser designating them so that the missiles coming from the air hit the target directly. This was an example of traditional Mossad ground espionage.

Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan knew that an air strike could happen at any time. So they designed Kahota as an underground dungeon rather than a factory. The nuclear centrifuges were housed in tunnels deep inside the mountain, looking like an ordinary building from above, but the real work was going on hundreds of feet below ground where no normal bombardment could reach.

When Israel saw that India was no longer ready to hand over Jamnagar and Pakistan's F-16 aircraft were patrolling the air, they canceled the mission as 'high risk'. It was a brilliant achievement of Pakistan's intelligence and military diplomacy.
