Nobody really cares about your mental health until it starts showing up as anger. When you’re quietly overwhelmed, carrying the weight of everything by yourself, people tell you to “stay strong” and keep pushing like nothing is wrong. But the moment all that bottled-up pain comes to the surface and you stop handling it the way everyone expects, suddenly you’re the problem.
If you want your relationship to last, you need to be willing to give up other people that make your partner feel uncomfortable in order to respect YOUR person. It's not controlling, it's called growing up..!
One of the hardest things to accept is that love isn’t something you should have to constantly convince yourself exists. If you’re always questioning where you stand, begging for the bare minimum or feeling lonely beside someone who’s supposed to care about you, it’s okay to choose peace over potential. Not every door needs to be forced open. Some are meant to be closed so you can finally find where you’re genuinely valued.
If you have to beg for it, it is not love. It is a hostage situation.
You should not have to beg for attention. You should not have to beg for respect. You should not have to beg for effort. You should not have to beg for someone to see your worth. And if you do, you are not in a relationship. You are in a negotiation. And you are losing. Love is not supposed to feel like pulling teeth. It is not supposed to feel like you are constantly proving your value. Love is supposed to feel like rest. Like safety. Like being chosen without having to ask. If you are always asking, you are not being chosen. You are being tolerated. And that is not love.
