@YorkshireWater you bastards. Increasing my bill by over 30% while refusing to fit a meter at my flat. All this while dumping waste in our rivers. Hope your directors enjoy their fat bonuses while continuing to rinse your customers.
@kevg1889@TheShorehamView Don't know you Kevin but as a huge fan of Shorehamview I'll be clapping loud and proud for Jonny. Love to you and your family. UTB x
@wylambrewery very lucky to get 2 cans of Imperial Jakehead as a birthday present yesterday. Absolutely stunning beer. Straight into my all time top 3. Sensational.
@BillBailey Thankyou for tonight in Sheffield (and surrounding areas) Bill. Utterly brilliant, sidesplittingly funny, completely joyous. We'd had a shit day. My dad had to have his cat put to sleep last night. You were the tonic he needed. Thankyou :)
@nr147 Got to say Neil, as a kid who got bullied for playing Warhammer 25 years ago, it's awesome to see someone with your profile embracing the hobby, and being proud of such a stunning paint job.
@HelpSheffield good on you for trying to advertise/defend our city centre. It is nowhere near as bad as the twitter naysayers try and make it out to be. Loads of really nice cafes/bars in easy walking distance. Yes the bottom of fargate/high st area is a bit shit, but what city..
@burts_b@HelpSheffield I'd prefer to wander round a city, have some food at a little independent place, then have a few beers at decent pubs and bars, in a nice atmosphere. This is all easily attainable in Sheffield city centre, if you look a little further away than high street/fargate.
@burts_b@HelpSheffield I mean, part of the problem is this desire for chain shops. M&S and Clarks are everywhere. Also, who really visits a city to get their trousers altered? That seems a bit of an archaic argument to me.
@Leonard82168458@HelpSheffield Nottingham, Manchester and Leeds are just examples of other cities I've been to in the last year. Seen people begging outside the stations in all 3. Seen graffiti and litter in all 3. But they are regularly held up as cities we should "try to emulate."
@Leonard82168458@HelpSheffield Every city centre in the country has stuff like that though. Certain parts of it are a bit shit, sure. Bottom of Fargate down to castle square is a bit rough. But there is so much more to the city centre than that small area.
I'm just a humble IFS subscriber, but fuck me your book brought home a lot of truths. I managed to stop before I became an alcoholic (just) but this book just reminded me why I checked myself. One of the best books I have EVER read. 10.
@DelaneyMan well now I've read my 99p copy of your book, I'm gonna buy the "real" version when I get paid. What a wonderful read. I see so much of me in your younger self. Hard to express in a tweet, but so many of your stories resonated HARD with me. Incredible book.
Getting pissed as a teenager to impress people? Check.
Doing loads of drugs cos your mates said they were cool? Check?
Realising as an adult that it was all a load of bollocks? MASSIVE check.
@HelpSheffield Just because we don't have the plethora of designer stores of, say, leeds or manchester, doesn't mean that the centre of sheffield is beyond help, or not worth visiting.
@HelpSheffield Sure the city centre struggles because of lack of big-name department stores and lots of recent closures, but it's really not all that bad. There are lots of popular, vibrant bars and small shops. 2/?
