@Airbnb @AirbnbPolicy This is the scene that greeted us when we returned after a few hours. Keep in mind, we were still supposed to stay here for another night.

[Hudhaifah @Huzzy_07]

@AirbnbHelp our 2 day stay was cut short when our apartment was trashed by a troupe of baboons. They destroyed the place and attacked me at one point. Upon requesting help from Airbnb and a refund, I was informed that you can't help me, even though the place was uninhabitable.

[Hudhaifah @Huzzy_07]

They had defecated and urinated on EVERYTHING. There was no way I could stay there another moment.
So we had to immediately leave. @Airbnb you offered no help, nor any resolution.
Please see your very helpful response.

Stop this madness, please.
You are all on the wrong side of history. Stop normalising something that is incredibly, deeply wrong.

I've spoken about this openly many times but the need in our country is so incredibly heavy.

Good Things Guy was created as a platform to share good news but we have also become a middle-ground for South Africans who are in desperate need of help.

Our inbox, social media "tags" and messages overflow daily.

Yesterday, Bryan Ndlovu innocently replied to a post explaining how he had to book himself into hospital to survive stage 6 loadshedding as he needs oxygen 24 hours a day and the long break was too long for what he had at home.

I asked him if I could share his story so others could gain some perspective.

The post sparked anger for the government and the situation they created but most importantly, it inspired strangers to share kindness in the face of tragic circumstances. The love that poured in for Bryan - and others who face a similar situation - was nothing short of amazing. So many South Africans opened their hearts with messages of hope to a complete stranger.

An anonymous donor even came forward to gift him an inverter, while another is organising him a new wheelchair.

But Bryan is one of many, many stories of people who need our help in South Africa.

This morning, like every day, I woke to messages from South Africans in need. So many of them. Messages asking for donations. Or just help.

Nappies. Baby Formula. A light so that their child can study. Sanitary pads for their sister. University fees so they can continue to study. Dog food for their furbaby. Help with transport to job interviews. Money to pay rent. Money to cover medical fees. Money for food.

I even had messages asking me to just listen to them. To hear their stories.

We try to help as many people as possible. We connect them with the right organisations who might be able to assist. Tyler spends every start of the year researching and publishing lists upon lists of charity organisations doing good things in our country.

So why am I posting this?

First and foremost, to thank the helpers, healers and heroes doing everything they can to help the hurt, uplift the broken and restore hope for those who have lost it.

But I also wanted to remind you that the person standing next to you - in whatever queue you're in - might be dealing with the absolute most. And that angry oke in traffic might just be trying to get to where they are going to survive whatever it is they are going through. And maybe that person you haven't heard from in a while might not want to burden you with their troubles. Ja, even that stranger on social media you are trying to fight with might be holding on to the thinnest of threads. Oh, and that person standing on the corner at the intersection you pass every day is most probably smiling through so much pain.

And I know it's hard for all of us. We are dealing with a lot right now. So I'm not asking anyone to bend over backwards or do what is out of your reach.

All I am asking for is a little extra kindness. Actually, a lot of it.

A smile. A simple hello. Human kindness in action.

And if you have the means, then please help someone in need with money, donations or your time.

We need to make it easier for others.

That's all.

Okay. Love you. Bye.
