Today we had the pleasure of going to @Judgemeadow to run a STEM session. We gave a short presentation on our project and then ran a quiz and activity. It was so great to be able to able to run this in person, big thanks to the school and the pupils for their engagement!

Back to the drawing board!
Let's look at some of our initial concept ideas before we got to the HG198.
(1) box wing, (2) blended wing body, (3) flying V
#STEM#engineering#design#aviation#drawingboard#CAD
-Passenger app (to incorporate a touchless journey)
-Advanced cleaning system (deep clean the aircraft between each flight)
Together, these systems mean that you can fly safely on the HG198 without a mask!

Interested in the pandemic proofing of the HG198?
-Load from rear (one way movement, passengers never face each other)
-Removal of overhead bin (removes shared touchpoints, need for passenger movement and interaction around cabin)
(1/3)
-Staggered seating (increased separation between passengers)
-Individual armrest (removal of shared touchpoints)
-Air curtains (to separate the airflow between passengers)
-Perspex screens (physical separation between passengers)

@BenAAeroEng Great question! The overhead lockers are shared touchpoints and they encourage passenger movement and interaction around the cabin. This was a key area of redesign for a pandemic proof aircraft. Keep a look out for our next post all about our pandemic proof aspects 👀
Hygeia is a group of 12 aeronautical engineers, and we’ve been busy behind the scenes designing a pandemic proof aircraft to allow you to travel safely again.
Today we’re excited to unveil our design, the HG198!
The HG198 has a capacity of 198 passengers through a 2-4-2

@BenAAeroEng The engines are an emerging technology that boast a reduction in fuel consumption, CO2 and NOx through a higher bypass ratio (among others).
We decided to move away from the traditional design as sustainability is key to us, hence we'll also be using sustainable aircraft fuels!
Hi everyone!
We're running a survey to gain an insight into your needs and priorities regarding air travel prior, mid and post pandemic.
This information will be invaluable to us to make decisions aligned to your needs. Please complete and share it!

Got the holidays blues?
COVID19 has put a lot of strain on the aviation industry and research has shown that pandemics will become more frequent with climate change and evolving medicines.
Fortunately, with COVID19 we've learnt so much, both globally and as an industry.

Our mission is to design an aircraft that can operate during a pandemic, allowing you to get your much needed holiday fix.
We strive to create a sustainable aircraft to play our part in reversing climate change and reducing the likelihood of future pandemics.
