As many Australian families continue to deal with the rising cost of living, housing pressures, and increasing everyday expenses, some people believe it’s time for political leaders to lead by example.

One proposal that’s generating plenty of discussion is:

Should politicians take pay and perk cuts before asking Australians to tighten their belts? 🤔

Supporters argue that:

After all, why should a billionaire bother paying for his own green virtue-signalling when there's an endless supply of mugs' money in Canberra?

Classic Labor: punish the punters, pamper the mates.

To suggest this natural heat wave is due to burning fossil fuels completely exposes those climitards trying to manipulate our politics. THE ENERGY LIE

Are you sitting down? You’re paying $343 more a year for energy. Labor promised a $275 reduction so they’re off by $618*

The government who promised us $275 off have made us pay an extra $22 billion from 2022-2026. They lied

Chris Bowen and Albanese blame bad weather and the war, which is ridiculous. They had the audacity to say coal power was making energy more expensive. The war has NOTHING to do with our energy. The weather makes no difference to coal fired power which is why the world is powered by it

The government keep blowing up the power stations and now Australians are suffering from renewables which is a failed experiment resulting in ***the world’s most expensive unreliable power***

This pushes up the prices of rent, insurance, farming, logistics. And flows on to everything from cheese and butter (which have doubled), to eggs and meat. It impacts our pantries, cafes and restaurants

My household has paid $5488 extra in energy since Labor were elected. How many people pay tax in your household? Do the calculations, it’s staggering

To the Americans:

I've travelled all over the world. I've familiarized myself with many places, and met many people. And I'm a Canadian, although I’m privileged to reside once again in the States.

And here's something I've noticed, and it’s a key element of America's continuing greatness:

You bloody Americans value success, and you believe in its existence.

This is something that doesn't really happen anywhere else in the world. Even in other free democracies—the United Kingdom; Finland, Sweden, and Norway; Australia, New Zealand and Canada; Germany, France, and the Netherlands (great countries all)—a counterproductive cynicism too often reigns.

Success is equated with exploitation.
Ambition is looked upon with contempt.

This happens sometimes in the United States too—particularly among the miserable progressives, who confuse their resentment, ingratitude and unearned skepticism with wisdom.

But in your great country, by and large, striving is admired and success celebrated.

This means that more people strive and succeed in the US than anywhere else. And it's increasingly obvious. You remain stunningly more innovative and productive than any people anywhere else on the planet.

And so I say, as all should who are fortunate enough to live in the western world, let alone America:

Thank God for the United States.

Thank God for the wisdom of its founders.
Thank God for its faith in the free market and in the natural rights of man.
Happy birthday, you damn Yankees and Southerners.

Long may your admirable country dominate the world.
