@OnGaardTV While Yu-Gi-Oh in its current state is pretty rough, I've been working a lot on my own card game lately, and a lot of the inspiration is from early yugioh. Setting/Flipping cards is a cool mechanic, and the old janky video games actually have some good ideas.

@OnGaardTV Unrelated, but the Bandai official rules implies you are using these cards which honestly i never tried i wonder how awful the original game truly was.

@OnGaardTV Yeah, I meant that it jumped the shark enough that Speed Duels and Rush Duels exist. I actually like both of them, though it's been a while since I've played either.

@OnGaardTV just because they've made 2 alternate formats to simplify the game and entice new players (and failed) is no reason to think there may be a fundamental design flaw with the original :^)

but yeah i agree the set is less exciting than usual. sometimes that's good though; all gas all the time is bad for wallets and less active players

@MiaVioletTCG I've seen these posts as well and haven't gotten any bingos either. In fact, half the time there are several squares where I don't even know what the symbol is supposed to be.

10 is a good number! Everyone having their own experiences to draw from is a good thing, imo.

@NataliePokeTCG Speaking of mulligans, I think the procedure should be "put your hand on the bottom of the deck, then draw". New players have trouble shuffling, so it saves time, especially when players get unlucky and need to mulligan 2+ times. Minimal info advantage because t1 has Ball/VIP etc

@professsorpoke Thinking about Yu-Gi-Oh, the more fun mirrors are almost always when decks are at their most toolboxy--goat control runs 20+ "1-ofs", Rank 4 XYZ format offered a variety of potential outs each turn, etc. Meaningful decision making and varied gameplay make enjoyable experiences

@professsorpoke A lot of times, one player will get a slightly better start (or win the die roll), and the game can feel decided on turn 2. That can apply outside of the mirror, but I think it's a common theme in them due to the relative linearity of Pokémon deck gameplans.

@OnGaardTV Looking to spice things up? We've got "person", but I prefer to hit 'em with "meatbag", or maybe "fleshie" if you're feeling spicy. Special occasions call for "sentience cursed being".
