I have to give it to Xabi Alonso. All of us were scared of that lineup. The back three hadn't played together before. The pivot hadn't played together before. The front three only had one match together. I'm not even sure Hato played WB in preseason. Too many first times.

I was scared of a lack of chemistry and disorganization without the likes of Caicedo and Palestra.

Yet, we put up a good performance. And the players had relatively good understanding of their roles. That surprised me.

I’ve questioned Reece James as captain at times (there I said it).

Never his ability. Never his love for Chelsea. But the aggression, the outward passion, that “we are NOT losing this” mentality I grew up associating with Dennis Wise and then John Terry.
Last night, I saw it.

Those final 25 minutes were stressful as hell and we’ve watched Chelsea fold in those situations far too often in recent years.
Reece wasn’t having it.

He was giving absolutely everything to drag us over the line, and weirdly one of my favourite moments was him going IN on Neto 😂

First for the shitty, lacklustre pass and then the shushing afterwards. And he didn’t just have a quick word and move on. He was FUMING. Kept going back to him. Made damn sure the message landed.
And I bloody loved it.

Because THAT is what I want from my Chelsea captain.
Demand standards. Get angry. Show everyone around you how much winning that game matters.

That energy spreads.

Listen… I’ve been at this club a long time, so I know exactly what I’m talking about.

We’ve given Enzo everything, love, support, patience, even the armband as vice-captain. And then last night he walks straight down the tunnel while the rest of the boys are still out there applauding the away fans. That’s not leadership. That’s disrespect. Simple as that.

When you wear that armband at Chelsea, it’s not just for decoration. You have a responsibility to the badge, to your teammates, and to the supporters who travel and pay their money to come watch and support you. You don’t just disappear when the whistle goes. The young players in that dressing room are watching. They look up to the seniors. If the vice-captain can just walk off, what message does that send?

For me, that moment showed his mind is already somewhere else. And once a player’s head is gone, it becomes very difficult.

Chelsea is bigger than any single player. I’ve seen big names come through this club, enjoy the spotlight, and leave. The club is still here. Always will be. No individual is bigger than this badge.

If Manchester City want him and the right offer comes, open the door and let him go, but only on Chelsea’s terms. We should never be desperate to keep a player who no longer wants to fight for us.

An unhappy player in the dressing room is dangerous. It kills the atmosphere, it creates silent tension, and slowly it starts dragging everyone down. We cannot afford another season of distractions and bad energy.

I’d rather have a group of hungry players who actually want to wear this shirt with pride than keep one man who’s already counting the days until he leaves.

Sell him. Move on. Protect the dressing room. Blue is the colour, not any individual’s ego.

When I said BlueCo and Eghbali would have sold João Pedro to Barcelona if Alonso hadn’t stepped in, some of you idiots were asking me foolish questions in the comments, which I rightfully ignored anyway.

Now, according to Fabrizio, David Ornstein, Ben Jacobs, and the rest, Chelsea’s position was clear: if Manchester City failed to submit a bid or make an approach for Enzo Fernández before the deadline Chelsea had set, that would be the end of it. City didn’t make an offer, the deadline passed, and we were told the door was closed. We believed BlueCo.

Now, after all that, we are hearing that City are set to submit a bid. So what exactly was the point of that deadline? If Chelsea are now willing to entertain an offer long after the expiration of the deadline they set, it means the door was never really closed in the first place.

At this point, it’s perfectly fine if Enzo is sold. Let all this drama end once and for all.

But one thing is certain: BlueCo’s words are not to be taken seriously.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if they opened the door for João Pedro to leave for Real Madrid or Barcelona next summer.
