I just published a manifesto for all the developers out there who use an AI coding tool, but feel like they're not shipping much faster
I wrote 10 principles for changing how you build software with AI, based on what I've seen work for teams across Amazon

When asked for a detailed up-front estimate, you have a choice. You can do that, or you can be agile. You can't have it both ways. Those "high-level user stories" will change, and in any event, if you have enough details to estimate from them, you're already doing waterfall so the choice has been made.

🔸Alles ruft Friede, Schalom! Da wird's passieren. – Ein neuer Nahostkrieg flammt plötzlich auf, große Flottenverbände stehen sich im Mittelmeer feindlich gegenüber – die Lage ist gespannt. #Flugzeugträger
This week on the Product Thinking podcast I’m talking to Professor @teisenmann about #Startup Failure Patterns. Tom’s been researching why companies fail @HarvardHBS, in early and late stages, for decades. You don’t want to miss this one.

Indeed, Odysseus is the most complex character in the Iliad. Otherwise, Homer would not have written the Odyssey. Although the term "odyssey" has evolved into a metaphor representing a difficult journey full of hardship, largely because of what Odysseus had to endure due to Poseidon's wrath (I visited the Temple of Poseidon near Athens this year), as a child, I intuitively felt that the gods, in fact, punished Odysseus for his invention of the Trojan Horse as a symbol of the worst deception in war times; thus he had to endure so much on the road to true redemption. His invention was a cunning and arguably unfair strategy to defeat an enemy as brave and successful as himself and his fellows.
To me, Odysseus epitomizes the intricate nature of a true hero that has many facades - good but also bad ones. Most of all, it’s insufficient to merely be a courageous and skillful warrior like Hector and Achilles; one must also demonstrate wisdom, perseverance, and loyalty to family, friends, and subordinates. More importantly, the road to Ithaca serves as a metaphor for me, symbolizing not only the longing for one's home and loved ones but also the pursuit of an elusive dream. It is during the journey to one’s Ithaca, when one displays true character traits like courage, wisdom, loyalty, and perseverance; that is when the full breadth of one's personality is revealed. This metaphor for the most important journey in life, this true odyssey allows one to achieve the seemingly impossible, surpassing what no one has achieved before.
@mipsytipsy I have been an architect for many years, and in that time I have drifted between several of your descriptions of an architect. The times I was most effective were when I was in the code with the devs feeling their pain. You can't replace that feedback loop.
Refactoring is based on the insight that as we work, the work itself presents new opportunities for improvements. We cannot know beforehand what those opportunities will be. We can only work, and by doing things we learn what is the best next step.
When a soccer team is playing the game, the expectation is not that each and every player must be dribbling their own ball. There is only one ball on the field, an the goal is to, well, gooooooooooooal!!!
I’ll be attending this year’s #KubeCon + #CloudNativeCon North America. If anyone wants to connect in person just drop me a message. Looking forward to meeting new people!
A year ago we open-sourced #AlphaFold

@CGLambdin@MangoMattness When I teach Scrum Agile workshops, our ice breaker opening activity is playing Battleship. One team has to write and follow the plan for their first 20 moves.
