Most remote workers in Africa lose 10% of their salary every month.

I was speaking to a remote worker in Nigeria yesterday. She walked me through exactly how it happens.

She creates an account with a local fintech. They generate a USD bank account in her name. Her company sends her salary through Wise from the US. By the time it lands, the platform has taken a 10% fee.

Instead of receiving her full $1,000, she gets $900.

The company usually sends through Wise from the US. On getting to her account, the platform takes 10-15% fee every month. So it's instead of receiving her full $1000, she gets $900.
