Just before 3:00 pm, crews responded to an aircraft emergency just outside Thun Field. Upon arrival, crews found a small aircraft crashed in the brush. The two occupants onboard were transported with minor injuries.
The airplane had just received maintenance and was undergoing a test flight. The airplane lost power shortly after takeoff. The pilots attempted to return to the runway, but crashed just before reaching airport property.
Crews are on-scene of a commercial fire that has spread to nearby vegetation in the 21200 block of Mountain Hwy E in Spanaway. All employees evacuated the building. Mountain Hwy is blocked in both directions while crews work to extinguish the fire. Please avoid the area.
Crews are on-scene of a non-injury rollover collision involving a pavement sealant truck blocking eastbound SR 512 at Meridian Ave E. @wastatepatrol and @wsdot_tacoma are on scene and are diverting traffic to Meridian. We are currently battling a fire at Recycling Resources. This event is generating a significant amount of smoke. Avoid exposure to the smoke by rolling up your windows as you pass and turning off your vehicle’s A/C. If you are in the vicinity, try to stay indoors.
We responded to a medical aid call at Boeing Frederickson today, but due to Boeing locking out their firefighter/EMTs on May 4th, our response took 18 minutes. We hope for a positive outcome for the patient. Bring back your FFs and put safety over profits. @IAFFofficial

Today we say goodbye to our brother, friend, and mentor Larry Spohn. Larry selflessly served for 34 years before retiring in 2013 and was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis a few months after retiring.
