@Adam_Cesare Pretty based! 🤟 Love how the dinosaurs of the industry like Scorsese have all lost the plot just trying to stat relevant, while the youth, who have the most to lose from a future with Ai taking everything, are loudly declaring fuck this shit! 😄
@StephenJGibler Star Trek tackled both sides of Ai, the good and the dangerous…you do nothing for your point by ignoring the other half of the lesson.
We’re not just being irrational, there’s real concerns that need to be addressed.
@VraserX It’s more the indifference it would have that’s terrifying. Just like how we’re indifferent to insects. If it needed to build something in a specific spot, but people lived there, if they were in the way, it would just uproot and murder all of them, it’s efficient and effective.
@savefilmer Photography created a new medium...it doesn't paint, it was something else entirely. Ai does everything...not the same.
Please stop making these kinds of poor comparisons, it's tiring hearing them repeated ad nauseam.
@DragonsofWales I've used them just to learn more about them, but I've never used them in my process and don't ever plan too. Just have no use, can already do what it does myself, and if I can't, then I'd rather learn that skill myself.
@DBillKaplan@davidclowery@MeekinOnMovies But yes, that's exactly what I'm saying...gen Ai alone isn't enough to help us reach this creative Utopia where we're all thriving, the distribution side of things needs more work, or it's just gonna be more of the same...but way worse.
@DBillKaplan@davidclowery@MeekinOnMovies Yes, if distribution wasn't solely owned by these big greedy companies who give nothing back to the creatives they grow fat from...then we'd all have a better shot. Heck even the old Hollywood model, where directors, actors, producers get millions...while artists get scraps...
@bonsoirdude I think Ai users could benefit by showing a little respect or solidarity, better understand why artists are hurting and lashing out. And artists could recognize that people having fun, being creative, isn't a bad thing. It's not the people using it that we should be mad at.
@bonsoirdude True, won't deny that, heck I'm still angry myself, which makes better conversations hard to have. I'd say stop rubbing salt in their wounds, kicking while they're down...that's not exactly helping either.
@bonsoirdude Some people have zero interest in using Ai...it takes away the whole reason they do art in the first place, the process of learning and growing a skill.
I'm just saying, someone seems to be paying a LOT of money to keep us squabbling, while real concerns aren't being addressed.
@bonsoirdude Could say the exact same thing about the "adapt or die" crowd, though I'd argue artists have more right to be angry, they're the ones losing something right now...they didn't cast the first stone, so the reaction was to be expected.
@DBillKaplan@davidclowery@MeekinOnMovies I've heard that, and maybe you're right, keeping it open source and localized might be the best shot for what you're describing...I just don't see many breaking out without a better platform...that's not incentivizing the worst of us. Just be more of the same, but a bigger sea.
@bonsoirdude I think both can coexist, I just think there's some real concerns we're not addressing...cause the pro Ai guys think we're just being irrational, and then we get nowhere.
@bonsoirdude Point is, we don't have to just take shit from tech...we can regulate things, we do have that power still. If there's more negatives then positives, we owe it to ourselves to take a look and be honest with ourselves, and see what can maybe be done about it.
