@dbacksprospectz You're right, Condon will probably be the pick. I suppose that will be okay, although that's not the guy I'm hoping for.
There will be a ton of pitching talent at pick 31, since basically every college pitcher has injury concerns. I bet one of them will be the pick there.
@shoewizard59 I was thinking the same thing today. I asked Brendan Gawlowski of Fangraphs this question in his chat. Not that his opinion is gospel, of course, but he has a really good point. The team feels very "in between" right now. Some top end talent, not a lot else, and a middling farm
@dbacksprospectz I hear you on Carlon. I just love that he's huge, athletic, has two pitches that are at least plus, he's pretty inexperienced (reliever first two years of college), and he has no injury history, unlike a bunch of college arms in this class.
@dbacksprospectz@VisaliaRawhide When I wrote this for AZSnakepit, I wanted to add an Honorable Mention section and talk about Foley, but I ran out of room. He's really exciting.

@shoewizard59 Ah, I wasn't looking at today's stats. You're right.
Regardless, McCarthy's done this before. It's frustrating, yes, but this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
@dbacksprospectz@eric_bach7 Yes, please! This would be a dream come true for me. 90% in zone contact rate, big exit velocities with possibly more to come, more walks than strikeouts. He's so good.
@dbacksprospectz Realistically? I really like AJ Gracia at 15.
There should be a ton of college arms available at 31. Tegan Kuhns might be my favorite of the second tier of college arms (after Flora). Flukey, Carlon, Townsend, Dietz, Peterson, and Rabe are all interesting, too. Lots of options.
@ProspectSavant Hello! It looks like there's an issue with Jose Fernandez of the Diamondbacks' page. It says he's a free agent pitcher in the Complex league. Can you please take a look when you get a chance? Thanks!
@dbacksprospectz Agreed.
It's just super frustrating when I see people cite these rankings every summer. If the Dbacks buy and trade Caldwell, people are going to say "we traded our number 3 prospect?!" He isn't a top 3 prospect, probably not even top 20, but right now MLB Pipeline says he is
@shoewizard59@SnakesTerritory True. But if the team does trade him, they'll have a shot to get out of that contract, too. After two years of underperformance and one of overperformance, I think I'd look into the possibility of moving him.
@shoewizard59@SnakesTerritory Interested in him. 1.2 fWAR and 3.3 bWAR is nothing to sneeze at.
Benefits of having Erod:
- he's healthy
- he's under team control for another year
- he's left handed
- his command is getting better and better as he ages
@shoewizard59@SnakesTerritory Just watched the episode. What about selling Erod at the deadline? Year and a half left on his contract with a vesting/mutual option for 2028. I think we all agree he's pitching over his head, but he is certainly getting results. There's certainly teams out there who would be
