Today, let’s talk about a tigress who was brought from Pench Tiger Reserve to Panna Tiger Reserve in 2014 during the rewilding and reintroduction program. She was given the code T-6 in Panna.
This tigress was the daughter of the world-famous T-15 Collarwali (also known as Mataram). Following in her mother’s footsteps, T-6 gave birth to 6 litters in Panna.
One of her notable offspring is P-621, the first cub from her second litter. He is popularly known as Goluram or Mr. India.
His territory stretches from the Ken River where he is frequently seen resting on the riverbanks to the Madla zone.
Goluram is one of my most favorite tigers. I find him extremely attractive because of his unique golden-colored coat, which sets him apart from other tigers.
He has a highly mysterious personality and is also known for occasionally charging at tourists. Several tigresses live within his territory, the most prominent being P-151 (popularly called the Manchali or Mischievous Tigress).
There are also reports of him mating with P-141 and even her daughter, but due to his elusive nature, these are not fully confirmed. However, it is well established that he has fathered three litters of P-151’s cubs.
He is regularly involved in territorial fights with other dominant males like P-661 and P-241.
If you ever visit Panna Tiger Reserve, make a special effort to look for this tiger. If luck is on your side, you will surely get to witness him. #pannatigerreserve #bigcatstory #bigcatofindia
