US Proposes 12.5% Tariff On India, 59 Other Countries Over Forced-Labour Import Curbs
The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has proposed additional tariffs of up to 12.5% on imports from India and 59 other economies after concluding that these countries have not adequately prohibited or enforced bans on imports made using forced labour. The proposal stems from Section 301 investigations launched in March 2026
