What’s happening in Syria today is a profound and unfamiliar transformation for those living inside. These changes may sometimes seem irrational, especially after years of armed conflict and violence. But what I see now is that all sides—Islamists, secularists,

liberals, and even those indifferent to such labels—are sitting together for dialogue. This in itself is an unprecedented development. Something new is taking shape, an open horizon for major change, not just in Syria but across the region.
