There was no story I was prouder of during my time @LEX18News than this.

It looked at the ongoing housing crisis in Eastern Kentucky - a direct result of the 2022 deadly flooding a year prior. I focused on Breathitt County, learning they had lost 749 homes to the flood, but that a year later - only about a dozen homes had been rebuilt - with 90 mobile homes installed.

I discovered that for many families who had for generations lived in hollers - down by creeks - a way of life was coming to an end.

The story itself was by no means perfect. But after spending weeks each day telling the emotional stories and challenges faced by people in the aftermath of the floods, I was grateful to return to share this in-depth report and highlight an issue that was getting little attention.
