As usual, the government is unleashing another dose of reforms without adequate notice and without an adequate post-reform plan to mitigate the pain.

The increase in electricity tariff comes at a time when Nigerian citizens are going through excruciating difficulties occasioned by the withdrawal of subsidy on PMS and floating of the domestic currency.

The government has not successfully dealt with the pains associated with the implementation of those measures, and now this. The hike in electricity tariff will create more difficulties for the citizens as inflationary pressures are elevated. Our manufacturing sector will similarly be impacted negatively. Not only are they paying higher interest rates on their bank loans but also paying more for diesel, paying higher wages as a result of the new minimum wage. The President's men are pushing the economy into a deeper crisis. His reforms are without a human face.

It is important that we understand the root cause of the inefficiencies in the power sector before unleashing another dose of reforms. It is time to revisit the privatization exercise that produced the DISCOs.

Tinubu must (a) ensure that these reforms are sequenced, (b) implement measures to mitigate the pain, and (c) hold the NERC responsible for ensuring improved service delivery. -AA

I would like to thank the Presidency (@NGRPresident), the National Assembly (@nassnigeria), the Honourable Minister of Aviation (@fkeyamo), the management of FAAN. (@FAAN_Official), the Lagos State Government (@followlasg), and most importantly my fellow Nigerians for swinging into unprecedented action to enforce the law, and taking steps to ensure sure this doesn’t happen to anyone in our country again.

While it has been a mentally challenging few days, I take comfort in the fact that laws exists to protect and prevent people from being discriminated against regardless of their challenges or perceived limitations. Our country works best when we all look out for each other and I sincerely hope that all organisations begin to take the Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018 seriously. It is Law and as such police-able and enforceable.

I take only one positive from this; the conversations around disability rights have been re-ignited and I will continue to champion the cause where I can. Ultimately every single person living with a disability deserves to be treated humanely. Being physically challenged in Nigeria is difficult enough, let us all strive to be our brother’s keeper and refrain from being an additional burden.

Elevators not working at federal and state buildings, hospitals, hotels, and other public buildings is a major issue.

These things are not appropriate and we should not get used to them. We must improve our standards.

I cannot say if the action FAAN has taken against KFC is legal or not. What I know is that this whole episode will discourage companies across Nigeria (banks, telecoms companies, restaurants, retail outlets, etc) from discriminating against people living with a disability. A win.

My dear sir, I’m deeply saddened by this angle you have chosen to take. It’s simply unbecoming. You have chosen your words in a manner to tear me down than to build up. As a nation builder yourself sir, this is deeply sad.

Today I choose not to get political with you because it is not a political matter, it is a social one.

I will speak about me today, not anyone else.

I do not believe in virtue signalling or posturing. When I help people, I do so quietly. I, Adebola, fund 27 charities monthly. 7 of them for children, 12 of them for PWD empowerments and the rest for employment.

From paying for CV Rewrites, to raising funds on my birthday for PWD charities, I live a life of silence and given back. I won’t @ anyone. But folks you know yourselves how I’ve taken it upon myself to show up especially when no one asks.

This week, something happened to me that shook me to my core. Destabilised me and devastated me emotionally, I chose to speak out not to bully or harass, but to expose myself as a human in pain and hurting and you took that and trampled on it for retweets.
