Democracy is about respecting the mandate of the people, whether one agrees with it or not. Instead of constantly revisiting political rivalries of the past, it is more productive to focus on how India continues to progress and achieve its aspirations for a Viksit Bharat. Nobody can deny Jawaharlal Nehru's role in India's freedom struggle and in laying the foundations of independent India. History should respect that.
But if comparisons are being made, then we must also look at outcomes.
After 17 years of Nehru's rule, India remained one of the poorest nations in the world, heavily dependent on foreign aid, with low industrial productivity, food shortages, and weak infrastructure. The 1962 war with China also exposed serious shortcomings in defence preparedness and foreign policy assumptions.
On the other hand, under PM Modi, India has become the world's fastest-growing major economy, a digital payments leader, a space power, a major manufacturing destination, and a nation whose voice carries weight on the global stage.
Respecting Nehru's contribution does not mean ignoring his failures. Likewise, evaluating Modi should be based on results, not political preferences.

History matters. Performance matters too.

India deserves an honest assessment of both. @BJP4India
