🔍 Child Sexual Abuse in Essex: 5 Year Breakdown

🔶 Overview
More than 5,000 child sexual abuse crimes were recorded in Essex over the last five years, with specialists warning the true scale is far higher due to chronic under reporting.

🔶Statistics
🔸 5,042 child sexual abuse offences recorded
🔸 2,837 rapes of children under 16
🔸 1,203 rapes of children under 13
🔸 23% of all Essex sexual offences involved children
🔸 Only 17% of survivors supported by CARA report to police

🔶 Conclusion
Essex is facing a widespread, deeply under reported child sexual abuse crisis which demands urgent protection measures and long term support for survivors.

This is ONE area!

Manipulative Swindon Teacher Jailed

🔶 Case Summary
Chris Fox, 39, a former Swindon teacher and archery club leader, groomed and abused three boys. He exploited his role to build trust with families, targeting vulnerable children and manipulating them into believing the abuse was “normal”.

🔶 Offences
🔸 Seven child sexual abuse charges
🔸 Grooming and exploitation of boys through gifts and trust-building
🔸 Manipulating victims’ sexual development for his own gratification

🔶 Sentencing
Nine years (five years three months in custody, remainder on extended licence) plus an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

🔍 Swindon Man Jailed for Historic Child Sex Abuse

🔶 Case Summary
David Bullock, 59, admitted indecently assaulting a girl under 16 at the former National Ice Rink in Cardiff. The abuse happened decades ago while the victim attended skating lessons. Bullock previously had more than 18,000 indecent images of children and travelled abroad to buy child abuse material.

🔶 Offences
🔸 Seven indecent assaults on a girl under 16
🔸 Prior child abuse image conviction

🔶 Sentencing
🔸Twenty four months imprisonment
🔸Indefinite restraining order
🔸Ten years on the sex offender register

🔶 Remarks
Recorder Greg Bull KC said Bullock remains a danger to children. The victim reported the abuse in 2025.
