Faces of Death (original) has gotta be the most universally-disliked "rite of passage" movie of all time. Millions have seen it, from kids at sleepovers in the '80s to Letterboxd users pre-gaming the 2026 remake. No one ever says, "Wow, that was great!"
@ohsethy I get it. I think my fondness is pretty burnt in from watching them a ton with my dad from age 8 onward. There’s a lot that’s dumb or bad about the movies though

Watched the 1980 Christopher Reeve time travel romance Somewhere In Time. It’s very good and sweet but the main thing I walked away from it with was this hyper specific Letterboxd list.
David Bowie told us there was a Starman waiting in the sky that couldn’t possibly make himself known to humanity because it would blow all of our minds. That Starman’s message? “Let all the children boogie.”
Something tells me we could have handled the Starman.
