Twilight Zone predicting the future with The Obsolete Man:
I am nothing more than a reminder to you that you cannot destroy truth by burning pages
I'm a human being, I exist. And if I speak one thought aloud that thought lives, even after I'm shovelled into my grave
the funniest part of replacing receptionists with AI will be realizing nobody actually documented half the things jessica the front desk person just magically handled every day.
I just think it would be better for everyone if the people who make adhesive for maxi pads and the people who make adhesive for bookstore price stickers switched jobs
This May Day a reminder that more than half of unhoused people in the US have a part time or full time job and no matter how many times you throw their tent away, they still can't afford rent.
“Why should MY tax dollars support disabled people who choose not to work?”
Disabled people aren’t choosing not to work. They’re forced out of the workforce by their health
You don’t scrutinize details when your taxes are spent on war or propping up billionaires
Ableism.
You will either experience being disabled or die young. Every body is vulnerable. We're not some 'other' group. Disability is part of the human condition. It literally benefits everyone to advocate for disability rights. Everyone is affected by disability.
Disabled people don’t owe you our medical history and diagnosis. You’re not entitled to know “what’s wrong with us” just because our disability is visible. Then if we flip the tables and ask you what your medical history is, you get defensive. It doesn’t feel good, does it?
They used to throw women in the water to see if they were witches. If they drowned, they were innocent.
Now they're saying the only abortion exception is if the woman's life is at risk. If she dies, she was at risk.
You can see the recurring flaw in the methodology.
It's ok to say 'disabled'. It's not a slur. It's not a label. It's a fact. I am disabled. My daughter is disabled. No manner of using different terms, to pussyfoot around the matter, will make us suddenly non-disabled. In fact, it's part of the problem.
#Disability#Ableism
“I see no color” is not the goal.
“I see your color and I honor you. I value your input. I will be educated about your lived experiences. I will work against the racism that harms you. I will check my prejudice and do better. You are worth fighting for.”
... That’s the goal.
The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
We share Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream of a world where there is respect and justice for all. May we never forget him and the timeless contributions he left to the world, of courage, hope, and above all, love. ❤️
@Simon_Ingari My (GenX) father (Silent Gen) was complaining about kids being lazy. I said they're just not putting up with the BS we were told we had to. No more 'how high' response to the boss saying 'jump' - they're asking why they need to jump & then deciding how high, if jumping at all
