If every person who doesn’t wear a mask but weighed in on the mask required lesbian bar emailed their favorite bar and/or live music venue and asked them to invest in air purifiers or an upgraded HVAC system, we could really make some progress in clean indoor air
reminder that in the usa the govt never said covid disappeared. they said ppl will get it 1-2x a year but that's not their problem anymore because they need ppl to commute and gather in person for the economy. so why anyone would be surprised covid is going strong is beyond me
How many times did disabled people say this was happening and get told we were exaggerating?! How many times did people refuse to hear us because they wanted the system to work in a way it is not working? There’s no ethical assisted dying until we can support disabled LIFE.
"you need to be physically fit in order to survive" google what the longest occupation of a US federal building was, what group of oppresses people did that, with what support, for how long, and what long lasting legislation we got from that and get back to me
Someone I support asked me if covid infection caused the stroke that robbed them of their sight, and it made me think yet again that people don't understand causes and consequences.
Then I realised that this is exactly how public health talks about this stuff, and ...
yall really need to start ideologically connecting public health with fascism. the act of purposefully reinfecting others when you know you are sick is a DEMONSTRATION OF POWER
Kids with undiagnosed and unaccommodated disabilities and kids that get severe disabilities from covid will not do well in school. It doesn't matter if we teach them "how to learn" if there's no medical care, accommodations, care, if we can't even give them a future.
Teachers are in the same camp as healthcare workers where they desperately need covid to be fine because otherwise they will have to reckon with having spent years causing lifelong illness to the vulnerable people they have power over
The paltry benefits disabled people receive is not “free money”.
It comes from taxes, which most disabled people do pay.
Ask yourselves why folks are ok forcing the sick into legislated poverty when it almost certainly will kill them?
It’s eugenics.
@M8Void Please let them know that Biden promised OSHA regulations to protect frontline workers, but then gutted the OSHA regulations so that they only protected medical workers. What followed was the most intense Covid die-off of working aged ppl of the pandemic.
My most controversial opinion as an autistic person is that I'd literally RATHER be traumadumped and overshared to than forced to make small talk. It's literally LESS emotional labour to me to hear someone's deepest emotions and feelings than it is to be forced to hold a casual polite conversation
recently had a lengthy respectful-seeming chat w/ someone about why i avoid using genai & data centers (they initiated it) & then just a few days later they casually suggested i use ai for smthg. why are ppl like this? why ask for my opinion then?
I really need some of y'all to learn about disability outside of just the context of covid. Like learn about disability history or about disabilities that aren't your own or part of long covid. Covid is happening in a wider context and that context is important.
Loitering gotta be the fakest crime ever. Fuck you mean people in the US can't just stand there. It sounds like something people would fabricate about North Korea
“Only the vulnerable” shouldn’t be your “oh good. I get to ignore this” card.
It should be a 🚩that the state is attempting to train you to 1) believe you’re not vulnerable, which you are, and 2) normalize the abandonment and targeting of those currently most vulnerable.
If you want to help a chronically ill loved one who’s struggling but aren’t sure how I have a few ideas:
*Offer to take them to an appointment
*Offer to pick up their meds
*Do a chore for them
*Situation permitting, watch their child(ren) for a little while if they have one/them
*Offer a listening ear
**And just don’t forget about us! We may not be able to do as much as we used to, but we’re still human and we can get bored or lonely sometimes.
landback includes hawai’i by the way. nobody wants to bring it up with other indigenous struggles because you all want to vacation on indigenous lands violently stolen by the united states that just happen to be tropical islands
Yeah a *lot* of people who think they’re “too nice” to speak up actually have very unkind and uncharitable thought narratives around their so-called ‘friends’
