Delivering the Welcome Address during the Valedictory Session of the 5th ICA International Conference on “Arbitration in the Era of Globalization” on 11 April 2026 at the High Court of Delhi, Mr. Arun Chawla, Director General, Indian Council of Arbitration said, “Over the past two days, this conference has brought together a wide spectrum of ideas, perspectives, and experiences, reflecting the depth and dynamism of the arbitration landscape today. It has been a journey of meaningful discussions, from harmonising dispute resolution mechanisms to examining the role of arbitration in economic growth, and from technological transformation to emerging legal challenges.
Furthermore, he highlighted that “As we conclude, this moment is not just about closing a chapter, but reflecting on the insights shared and the direction ahead. The collective engagement of thought leaders and practitioners has made this platform both enriching and impactful, reinforcing the importance of continued dialogue in shaping the future of arbitration.”

Delivering the Opening Address during the Valedictory Session of the 5th ICA International Conference on “Arbitration in the Era of Globalization” on 11 April 2026 at the High Court of Delhi, Dr. N. G. Khaitan, President, Indian Council of Arbitration said, “If India is to sustain its economic momentum and emerge as a global hub for arbitration, we must move decisively towards institutional arbitration and away from ad hoc processes. Efficiency, credibility, and timeliness must define our dispute resolution framework.
Furthermore, he highlighted that “Structural reforms, including limiting the number of arbitrations undertaken, ensuring strict timelines, and shifting appointment powers from courts to institutions, will be critical in strengthening investor confidence and supporting India’s growth ambitions.”
