ILA PRESIDENT INAUGURATES NEW COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW, PEACE AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT, APPOINTS DR. KARIM KOLAWOLE BABATUNDE AS CHAIR

President of the International Law Association-Nigerian Branch, Professor @dsolawuyi today inaugurated a new Committee on International Humanitarian Law, Peace and Conflict Management (IPCM Committee).

In a brief ceremony, the President charged the committee to leverage their expertise and skills to promote the study, clarification, understanding, and progressive development of international law in relation to conflict prevention and
resolution, peacebuilding, humanitarian responses, and post-conflict recovery in Nigeria to foster peace and justice.

لا يمكننا التعاطي مع عالم يزداد تعقيدا بعقلية واحدة أو رؤية أحادية؛ فالمستقبل يحتاج إلى تنوع الأفكار، والتعاون بين الأجيال، ومشاركة هادفة للشباب بوصفهم شركاء حقيقيين في رسم م��امحه.

نؤمن في دولة قطر بأن تمكين الشباب يبدأ بمنحهم الثقة والمهارات والمساحة والفرصة، والانتقال من الحديث عنهم إلى الحديث معهم، ومن تصميم السياسات من أجلهم إلى تصميمها معهم. ومن هذا المنطلق، نواصل الاستثمار في طاقاتهم وبناء قدراتهم، اتساقا مع رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030.

واستعرضت في كلمتي عدداً من المبادرات التي تترجم هذا الالتزام إلى واقع عملي، من بينها مناظرات قطر وبرنامج مندوبي قطر الشباب للأمم المتحدة، و« #منتدى_الدوحه : النسخة الشبابية»، الذي يربط أصوات الشباب بنقاشات السياسات العالمية، ويتيح لهم عرض أفكارهم والمشاركة بصورة مباشرة في مناقشة القضايا المحورية التي ترسم ملامح مستقبل عالمنا.

جاء ذلك في مداخلتي خلال الدورة الثانية من القمة الشبابية العالمية من أجل التغيير، التي نظمها مركز الشباب للحوار والسلام ومعهد الأمم المتحدة للتدريب والبحث.
